Congestion Charge

Smart enforcement for cleaner, more efficient cities

Congestion Charge, how does it work?

  • The Congestion Charge application automatically identifies vehicles entering a defined area using high-accuracy license plate recognition. Each event is checked in real time against configurable rules, such as time bands, vehicle categories, exemptions, or payment status.
  • When a violation is detected, the system seamlessly generates the evidence required for enforcement, reducing manual intervention and operational costs.
  • In congestion charging zones, Tattile’s ANPR cameras capture the license plates of incoming vehicles. These cameras manage continuous traffic flow while also providing make, color, class, and model classification of all the vehicles.
  • The captured data is then compared to a centralized database of vehicles that meet the area’s emissions requirements.

Managing congestion in urban areas is a key challenge for modern cities. Tattile’s Congestion Charge application provides a reliable, scalable solution to regulate traffic flows, reduce emissions, and improve overall urban mobility through automated enforcement.

Built on Tattile’s proven ANPR technology, the application enables authorities to monitor access to regulated zones, apply congestion charging policies, and ensure fair and transparent enforcement without disrupting traffic or daily life.
