Legitimate use of data collected from the field
Tattile develops and provides to customers application software aim to identify a vehicle licence plate, vehicle’s make, model, colour and passenger number.
To develop and train the neural networks of the software, Tattile collects and analyses images, provided by the customers and collected on field.
Before images are provided to Tattile, passengers of the vehicle are anonymised. This means that the driver and passenger are blacked out in the images before being stored for training purposes. Also date, time and location of recording are erased before images are stored for training purposes. The plate data cannot be obscured, as it is needed to train the neural networks to be able to recognise the plate data.
The legal basis for the processing by Tattile is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. The legitimate interest of Tattile in the development and training of software in order to provide customers with a product that works properly. There is also a legitimate interest of a third party (costumer of Tattile) under Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. These third parties have an interest in the correct operation of the system and in the accuracy of the results provided. The camera and software are then used in the performance of a task of public interest.
