Quality control of welding and Assembling
Product: card for radio-GPS antenna
Market: Automotive
Vision system: Tattile SmartReaderM3 with two digital camera LVDS 1024x768 BW
Lighting System: White circle led
Application
The system was born for automatic quality control of radio-GPS antenna in an automatic welding supply chain
We have used two LVDS cameras in two different points of the supply chain.
The systems are able to check as follow:
- Cable presence before welding
- Correct alignment of cable before welding
- Positioning of protective sheath
- Orientation control
- Quality control of cable
The cycle-time is around 15 pieces per second. Thanks to the performances of our embedded solutions, we can use only one analyzer for both cameras to run the whole inspection described, without having to use any further industrial PC. The whole inspection has been developed with our Antares software, available on all our embedded systems without having to pay any run-time license.
In this application we have also used an I/O expansion module for rejects: the combination of signals set the kind of defects.

Vision system for quality control of electrical connector crimping
Product: Faston connectors 3-5-6-8-12 poles
Market: Automotive
Vision System: Tattile SmartReaderM1A
Lighting System: two red LED illuminators
Application
The vision system check the quality of Faston connectors crimping (used for fuse connection), before their packaging.
The system check both the curved faces used to block the cable on connector. The vision system is able to detect:
- Incomplete crimping
- Abundant crimping
- Assembling defects
- Defects on crimping face
- Cable length
- Wire not crimped
- Curved wire
The cycle-time is around 30 connector per second.
The architecture in based on a main PC, to which the vision system Smart Reader M1A are connect via Ethernet cables. An easy GUI allows the management of the parameters of analysis and the saving of data into a statistic archive compatible with Microsoft Excel. The user can export the data onto USB pen.
The rejection is managed by an Elsist PLC, capable of managing the trigger and input from the vision system.
